Relationship expert Tracy Cox helps you decipher his messages and tells you what they really mean.
February is the month of love and therefore the month which can lead to the most confusion when it comes to the opposite sex. We often feel like we get mixed messages from guys. How many times have you gone to your friends with a text or a Facebook message, crying “what do you think it means?” or been confused over the kisses on a text he sent back “he usually puts three and today it’s just one?” It’s questioning like this that leads to us women going slightly loopy.
The world of digital messaging can be a complex and rather daunting prospect, especially when it comes to working out what he really wants and if he’s really into you. From looking at his tagged pictures and knowing when there is nothing to them, to when to text him if you haven’t heard back after a date. We can become fixated with the “right rules” and end up worrying whether an incorrectly timed response can ruin any chance we had.
Lucky for us, we have the holy grail that we have all been waiting for, our very own relationship expert Tracy Cox. She has teamed up with Confused.com to give you a master class in the world of digital communication, so that you can understand his messages and in turn understand him a little bit more.

Brits follow formula to make their own luck in 2010
Four out of five Brits will use the power of thought and a positive mental attitude to ensure 2010 is luckier than last year. That’s according to a new report from Galabingo.com which shows a full 84% say avoiding a negative outlook will improve their odds.
It seems the over 50’s are the most likely to use positive thinking to influence their luck, with a score over 5% higher than the national average. But however much we’re going to be ‘thinking ourselves lucky’, it seems we’re still a superstitious lot. Over a fifth (22%) of people hope a charm will work for them and a similar amount rely on lucky numbers (18%).
Surprisingly, commonly cited ways of bringing luck on yourself seem to have waned in popularity. Only five per cent believe a four leaf clover will do anything for them and even less (2%) see the value in a so-called lucky rabbit’s foot.
Thankfully, while superstition evidently still plays heavy in our minds there is room for more practical ways of thinking. Over a third of us (36%) believe hard work will bring us good luck.
Galabingo.com conducted the study to find out what the nation thought after noticing interesting habits from their users once they had enjoyed a win; such as always playing at that same time of the day, sitting in the same place in the club, or using the same coloured dabber. They’ve even invented a formula factoring in aspects like positive thinking, patience and an adventurous spirit to help improve your luck during the year:
Being luckier all year = PMA + (365 X -N) + (52 X R) + (12 X +N)
PMA develop a positive mental attitude to life.
-N become less negative to little everyday occurances (one a day, all year long).
R take time to reflect on the week and to think about things. Make it a new year’s resolution to allow 15 minutes each week to stop and let your mind mull over the past few days. You’ll find ideas and memories will pop into your head that enable you to take more chances and invite luck your way.
+N once a month make an effort to try new things and explore new places – even if it’s just doing the weekly shop in a different supermarket. Accept the next unexpected offer, or even invite neighbours you’ve never got to know properly in for a new year’s drink. You never know what’s around that next corner!
Chartered psychologist, BBC3’s, Felix Economakis, says: “With 84 per cent of us already thinking positive this year, we’re on to a winning formula. Although we’re a superstitious lot, there is no real mystery to ‘thinking yourself lucky’ in 2010. A luckier life is achieveable for us all. Having a positive mind set will enables us to keep an open mind. Grabbing opportunities as they arise, keeps us looking on the bright side when bad things do happen.”
Regardless of numbers, it seems we do still adhere to some old wives tales.
According to the report, four in ten of us (37%) admit to touching wood to bring ourselves luck, around a third (30%) still believe finding a penny is lucky and a similar amount (28%) feel lucky when they see a shooting stars
Jean Jeanie – Watch this video to learn how you can love your jeans again!
Over the years we all go through various clothing styles but jeans will always be a permanent part of our wardrobes. Whether they’re skinny fit or bootcut, high waisted or flared, there’s a certain style that suits every one of us.
But as time goes by our body changes shape, and we’ll find that we don’t feel as confident in our favourite pair anymore. What once used to fit so well and look so good has become a pair of trophy jeans – something we aspire to get back into, one day in the future.
Research by Kellogg’s Special K shows more than one in three women have a pair of these trophy jeans and they act as an incentive to get in shape. For some girls, fitting into these jeans again is more important than their best friend’s wedding or even winning the lottery!
So whether you’re not sure what type of jeans suit you, simply want to get back into your old favourite pair or you’re still holding onto those goal jeans that need a bit of fixing up – watch this video for top tips from Elisabeth Wilson, wellbeing expert.

Watch this webTV show to learn how to say no to yo-yo dieting and make this your last New Year resolution to lose weight
Show date: Monday 4th January
Show time: 2:30pm
This coming year more and more of us are likely to make dieting our New Year’s resolution. However for many of us, this will be a ritual we are all too familiar with. Having tried dieting the year before and been unsuccessful, the process of losing weight and then gaining it is something us women struggle with on a regular basis.
Losing weight and keeping the weight off can give you a better quality of life, not only will you look fabulous in that dress, but the health benefits are astounding, reducing the risk of life threatening diseases such as type-2 diabetes and heart disease, two of the leading causes of death worldwide1.
With all the weight loss programmes and diets that Britons are attempting this New Year, it’s important to know what food and exercise combinations can help you lose weight – consequently reducing visceral fat. Visceral fat which surrounds vital organs in the abdomen can’t be seen or felt, but the metabolically active fat in unhealthy amounts can add to serious health problems.
In this live WebTV show, David Haslam, chairman of the National Obesity Forum, and Terry Maguire, Pharmacist of Maguire Pharmacy, Belfast, explain what you can do to avoid the yo-yo dieting pattern and how to get rid of dangerous hidden fat. We also have Paula Keogh talking about her weight loss experiences with alli*. Submit your questions before hand or ask them live.
Here’s an interesting message from the UnReality Team
Right – it’s no secret I’ve thought X Factor was lame this year. The talent was lacking in a lot of the finalists, and there were a lot of problems. Mentoring in particular needs an overhaul:
“The judges cannot give good, constructive criticism and advice if they invested in select groups of contestants as their mentor.”
We saw it this year with Simon, who wouldn’t say a word against his contestants, even when they were awful. If Olly had been mentored by Louis, imagine the harsh comments he’d have made – tacky, like a bad wedding singer, etc.
a) They need to concentrate on the contestants as individuals. If Jamie’s a rocker, find out what he’s passionate about and give him the right songs. We need to see the contestants develop as artists so we know who they’ll be when they emerge.
b) They need a seperate team of mentors – Yvie Burnett is a must for vocal coaching, but they’ll need advice on stage presence and stuff like that. I think Brian Friedman needs to go as creative director though.
c) The theme weeks are a disaster – look at Jamie Afro, Rachel Adedeji who ended up singing songs that didn’t suit them. Scrap the themes and give the contestants the right songs – it’ll create a bit more variety on the night as well!
d) The winner’s song – it can’t be a boring power ballad. That’s unimaginative and bad for the winner. Give them a song that’ll compete in the charts and stop with the schmaltzy key-change nonsense.
Two very cool new clips. Check them out!! How amazing does Bethany Joy Galeotti from One Tree Hill sound? And the next time I have to apologize to someone, I’m going to do it just like Chuck Bass…hilarious!
