The press might be up in arms about Madonna’s visit to Malwai but the villagers of Gumulira were happy to see Mads and Lourdes today and sang them a few welcoming songs (no word if a rendition of Holiday was performed). Mother and daughter had a look around the maize fields which the UN is helping the Malwain farmers with. They gave Madge a taste but it looks like it didn’t go down too well (probably the 1st time in years she had to eat carbs).

The British Sun are reporting today that despite Madonna denying that she will be adopting another Malawi child on her trip to Africa, she already has a 3 year old girl called Grace picked out.
MADONNA “set her heart” on adopting Malawian tot Grace after watching video footage of her playing in an orphanage. She fell for the smiling three-ye.ar-old as she viewed a documentary about a £2million day care home she is funding for orphans in the impoverished African country. A source close to the star, who last year adopted Malawian lad David Banda, said yesterday: “Madonna saw a film of children at a place called The Consol Home”.
“She spotted a beautiful girl called Grace who lit the room with her smile, and fell head over heels for her.“Madonna kept saying, ‘That girl has so much love in her. I want to help her achieve her potential’. But adoption officials are being very strict after the uproar when Madonna adopted David. They know Grace is her first choice, but have insisted she looks at other girls first — and that the final decision is theirs. Officials have asked the star to view as many as TEN girls before a decision is taken on which to adopt. Two others, called Jessica and Mercy, who are both two, are also expected to be considered by the star.
However due to the furore that accompanied David Banda’s adoptions, Grace won’t be coming home straight away: ”The singer has been warned it will be very unlikely that she could take her new tot home straight away, after the furore over David.
“Grace is healthy, stunning and has no living relatives. The fact David’s dad Yohane was alive and well caused most of the problems last time.”
Reading this I feel slightly uncomfortable, all these celebrity adoptions are starting to wear thin. Obviously it’s great for the kid who gets adopted, but for the other 9 who are lined up and rejected for the ‘healthy, stunning’ orphan, it just seems on the cruel side.

Life&Style are reporting that Madonna and the newest addition to the Ritchie clan, little David Banda (18 months) are right now heading to Africa to spend time with David’s biological father, Yohane Banda and also that Mads has been bitten by the adoption bug and is planning to adopt another child very soon:
“She wants David to have a relationship with his biological father,” an insider tells Life & Style exclusively. “She’s going under the guise of a vacation, but she’s not on vacation — she’s on a mission.” After Madonna adopted David from Malawi in October, critics accused her of using her wealth and fame to fast-track the process. Madonna publicly rebutted that claim, but felt — and still feels — that her reputation was hurt by the controversy surrounding the adoption, the insider says.
“She intends to adopt another baby soon, but first she wants to repair her image from all the bad press she got over David’s adoption,” says the insider. “She plans on having David’s father be part of the extended family. She wants to show that her adoption was an unselfish act of love and not what it was portrayed as in the media.”
Mad’s rep has confirmed that the Material Girl is heading to Malawi:
“I can confirm that Madonna is planning a trip to Malawi quite soon. She’s going to continue her work with the Raising Malawi Orphan Care Initiative, including the building of a children’s care center. If her trip there brings attention to the tremendous need to help the children of that country, then so be it. No one objects to that.”

Last time it was D-I-S-C-O and purple leotards, this time arounds Madonna is re-inventing herself as a hip hop artist:
She has lined up a Who’s Who of the genre’s megastars, including Timberlake’s producer pal TIMBALAND to help her achieve R&B credibility. Hip-hop legend PHARRELL WILLIAMS is already working on at least four tracks and his fingerprints look set to be all over the new release

Justin Timerlake has also confirmed that he will be writing some new material for the Material girl:
“I have been working on some new music.“But it’s not for myself — I’m writing for other people. I’m working on some stuff for Madonna.”Justin headed into a West London studio yesterday with Madge. He is in the country for a few weeks as he prepares to kick off the UK leg of his current world tour.
However it won’t be all hip hop though, the Queen of Pop is keeping some of the dance/disco influences from her last album, Confessions On A Dancefloor by enlisting Chicago House DJ and Producer Felix Da Housecat
“It’s not all hip-hop though, there are a lot of producers from a lot of genres in there. It could be her most ambitious project yet.”

This is Peter Hewson’s latest portrait of Mads and husband Guy Ritchie. Hewson’s agent admits:
“Peter is a bit obsessed with Madonna. There are strong rumours that Guy was very jealous of the earlier pictures he’d painted of her and wanted to knock Peter’s block off.” He admits that in the latest picture, he superimposed his own face on the body of the singer and says of the Shrek-like figure looming over her: “It’s probably a subconscious thing that I’ve got with Ritchie and yes, I’ve heard that he may not have liked my other portraits.”
Madonna already owns 4 of Howson’s works. But with rumours that the self styled queen of pop is suffering from a “sense of humour failure” about her appearance and that her relationship with Ritchie is “more strained than ever”, this latest work isn’t likely to be hanging from her walls any time soon:
“It’s awful. She looks like an ageing transvestite and Guy looks like a cross between a football hooligan and a pervert,” says one source close to the couple. “Worst of all it portrays Guy as a clinging subservient type and Madonna as the alpha female. Guy’s hyper-sensitive that everybody thinks that about him - his mates wind him up by calling him ‘Mr M’ - and he will not see the funny side.”
2007 hasn’t been a golden year for the Madonna and Guy, the PR disaster that accompanied their adoption of David Banda as well as the worry that the tell all book by their former nanny has led Madonna to decide she wants to leave England and move back to New York. Guy’s father admits:
“They are moving to New York. They have been looking for somewhere to live for a bit. I think Madonna just wants to be there. And the children can all go to the bi-lingual French Lycee school (Madonna is insistent that her offspring are educated in French), so it will work for them.”
However self confirmed Cockney Londener Ritchie isn’t a happy bunny with the idea of movingstateside. He is also rumoured to have given up Kabbalah and that there is now a growing distance between ‘Mr. Madonna’ and his wife:
“They aren’t spending a lot of time together at the moment,” says a source close to the couple. The truth is that they seem to have less and less in common. This seeming image gulf between the two is reflected in the way they have started to lead quite separate lives with Guy doing his thing and Madonna hers,” the source says. “He has a very close band of his friends and she has a tight group of her own. “She likes to be in the house or out to dinner with a few chosen couples but Guy wants to be at his karate classes, in the pub or hanging out with his mates.”

Actress Christina Haag, a former girlfriend of the late John F. Kennedy Jr., was paid over a million-dollar advance for her upcoming book about her relationship with Kennedy. According to News @ Imdb.com and other sources, she will cover the couple’s days at Brown University to Kennedy’s fling with Madonna while he was still dating Haag. It will also include details about Haag’s bitter drama between her and Kennedy’s mother, Jacqueline Onassis, who disapprove of Haag because she was an actress.
In November 2006, Haag secretly signed the book deal with Doubleday Imprint Spiegel & Grau. In the last years of Ms. Onassis life, she worked at Doubleday as an editor.

The original Queen of Pop Madonna made an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. The material girl took the opportunity to speak out on the commando trend adopted by Britney, Lindsay et al.
Letterman: Now, I see these pictures on the Internet of some of your top stars of the day without their underpants
Madonna: Oh God
Letterman: You know what I’m talking about?
Madonna: I’ve been hearing these stories. It’s dreadful
Letterman: It’s just remarkable:
Madonna: I love underpants…Honestly, I live in England and so…I’m pretty cut off from a lot of these stories. I only read stuff about, or hear stuff about the Royal Family. And so I’ve come to New York and the first thing I hear is about everyone not wearing their underpants. What’s going on? It’s freezing outside?
I’m not really sure what paper’s Madonna’s reading that all she hears about is the Royal Family.
When Letterman reminded Madonna that she once gave her a pair of underpants, she quipped, “Maybe you should give them to Britney”

The Madonna tracksuit for H&M will give birth to a whole line of clothing and accessories set to debut worldwide in March of next year. H&M has announced that the upcoming “M by Madonna” fashion line will reflect Madonna’s timeless, unique and always glamorous style. The Material Girl worked closely with head designer Margareta van den Bosch to create a wardrobe that represents her own personal and modern spin on her very own wardrobe staples. But judging by these sketches we won’t be seeing any conical bras or purple leotards.

H&M is hoping that this line will emulate the success of their collaboration with Stella McCartney. In comparison, Madonna’s tracksuit failed to ignite sales and months after they were launched the merchandise still remains in H&M stores, suffering from lacklustre sales. H&M spokespersons claims the sales are doing “very well” but refused to reveal any sales numbers.

Those against the adoption are claiming that the countries adoption legislation does not allow for “inter country” adoptions.
The star had been granted an 18-month interim custody order which allowed her to bring the child out of the country.
Meanwhile it has been revealed that a recent televised concert by Madonna on American channel NBC was a flop with only 4 million viewers tuning in for the live performance.

Madonna (48) has spoken to Time magazine over the adoption of a 13 month old child she adopted. She said “What they (people) should care about is that there are over a million orphans in Malawi”
She spoke of the day her arrived: "He arrived at seven o’clock in the morning and the children were getting ready for school. We were all in the kitchen and the door opened, it was just really quiet and my nanny walked in carrying David and the children just ran to him. Lola grabbed him and held him and it was just this strange quiet moment. It was amazing."
It’s all been a strange trip; this whole fiasco seems to have been handled badly by both Madonna and the media. It will be interesting to see what the next move will be.
