TMZ report that it is confirmed that Alec Baldwin has pre-recorded an episode of The View with all the girls  that will air this Friday.  However conflicting reports exist on how Baldwin’s apology went down with the crowd:

[TMZ’s source] recounts that Baldwin “was very heartfelt, apologetic and emotional.” We’re told the audience applauded multiple times as Baldwin discussed the events surrounding the voice mail.  On the show, Baldwin indicated he is interested in being released from his “30 Rock” contract. Sources tell TMZ, however, that if NBC does not release him he will fulfill his contractual obligations. We don’t know how long those obligations run.

However another inside source has contacted Perez Hilton with an altogether different version of events:

“I was just an audience member on the View this afternoon for their show that will air Friday. Alec Baldwin made a v. awkward appearance on the show. Rosie came out before the segment to prepare the audience for the “polite applause” we were supposed provide. She was really great, compassionate, funny and said she loved alec and they’d been friends for years but she has been trying to convince him not to do this interview. He seemed really all over the map - asking nbc to release him from his contract with 30 rock, went off about his battle for parental alienation prevention and pulled a little papa simpson talking about how much he loved his daughter and how he wakes her up by getting in bed with her and stroking her hair.

He really had me til he said the last bit but generally I feel for the guy, I think he’s so out of it, lost and upset. Rosie told the audience during a commercial break that he had asked her every day for a week now to be on air to explain himself but she’d advised against it because people at the height of a problem shouldn’t make rash decisions. He had threatened to leave the country and was totally ambivalent about his future in acting. He stuttered non-stop, really all over the map and didn’t look at the audience once even tho there was a quasi-standing ovation when he walked in. Oh, and there’s this weird bit at the end about his mom’s voicemail about pumpkin seeds that translate to life that made him cry. Stay tuned on Friday!!!! “

Probably realising that his statment to Extra didn’t go down so well with the yummy mummy crowd (and any other right thinking person), Alec released yet another response to TMZ revealing that he is in fact a douchebag on his own website alecbaldwin.com:

Thank you to everyone who has posted messages of suppport and understanding. Naturally, it is not best for a parent to lose their temper with their child. Everyone who knows me privately knows that I have endured a great deal over the last several years in my custody litigation. Everyone who knows me privately knows that certain people will go to any lengths to embarass me and to disrupt my relationship with my daughter.

In such public cases, your opponents attempt to take a picture of you on your worst day and insist that this is who you are as a person. Outside the doors of divorce court, I have friends, I have respect from people I work with and I have a normal relationship with my daughter. All of that is threatened whenever one enters a court room.

Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child. I’m sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case.

Once my book is published, I’m sure more people will understand the incredible strains created by parental alienation.

In the meantime, I’m sorry to anyone who’s taken offense from this episode

If your eyes started to glaze over whilst reading that, I put some of the more entertaining statments in bold.  Probably my favourite part is right at the end where Baldwin actually tries to use his verbal abuse of his own daughter as a way to pimp out the release of his new book.  That takes balls (or a super-sized ego)

Also, what kind of people is Alec Baldwin surrounding him with that instead of issuing an out and out apology for his behaviour, actively encourages him by posting ‘messages of support and understanding’ and telling him ‘not to worry’.  It’s kind of sad what levels of sucking up people will do just to stay around what they consider a star. 

Baldwin is also trying to find out who the mystery source is that disclose the recording to TMZ and has filed papers in the LA County Superior Court in order to do so. 

Ireland’s mother Kim Basinger has also responded to Alec’s 1st response through her lawyer: (custody battles are complicated - anyone whose watched an episode of Jerry Springer knows this)

“There is much I can say and have said in the past regarding Mr. Baldwin’s responsibility for the relationship between him and his daughter Ireland.  I am concerned that Mr. Baldwin’s recent statement, wherein he attempts to shift responsibility to Kim and her lawyers for his issues with Ireland, shows just how out of touch he is with the reality and gravity of the situation.”

Alec Baldwin might be winning over new fans and critics for his work on 30 Rock but the eldest Baldwin won’t be getting much love from child services any time soon. 

The crack team over at TMZ have managed to get their hands on a tape of Alec Baldwin going into a rage at Ireland, his 11 year old daughter with ex Kim Basinger - throwing a string of abuse at the little girl, at one point even calling her a, “thoughtless little pig”.  Having listened to the tape over at TMZ, it seems somewhat deserving that Alec could loose his visitation rights over the tape:

After Ireland failed to answer her father’s scheduled morning phone call from New York on April 11, Alec went bersek on her voice mail, saying “Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone,” adding, “you have insulted me for the last time.”

Switching his train of thought, Baldwin then exercised his incredible parenting skills and took a shot at his ex-wife, declaring, “I don’t give a damn that you’re 12-years-old or 11-years-old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do.” The irate Baldwin went on to say, “You’ve make me feel like s**t” and threatened to “straighten your ass out.”

“This crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother,” screamed Baldwin, “and you do it to me constantly over and over again.”

Before hanging up, Baldwin warned the child, “You better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me.” That’s tomorrow.

As a result of hearing the tape, the Los Angeles County Superior Court comissioner Maren Nelson has temporarily suspended Alec’s visitation rights.  A further hearing is set for May 4 which could result in Baldwin being permanently denied any visitation rights.

All Baldwin’s lawyer could respond to TMZ with was:

 “Whatever happened yesterday was sealed and confidential. What you’re telling me you’ve got you shouldn’t have.”

Alec and Kim’s marriage ended in 2000, at the time Basinger alleged that Alec had physically and emotionally abused her while Baldwin counterclaimed that Kim was mentally unstable and an alcoholic.  In 2004, he was awarded ongoing joint legal custody of their daughter Ireland
