Kate Thornton has tracked the ups and downs of the British pop scene for nearly twenty years – she was there at the birth of Britpop and has witnessed and worked with some of our best loved stars of the UK pop industry.

In this video interview, Kate talks about the bands she likes now, the ones who’ve lasted the test of time and how despite critics saying Big Brother should be served an eviction notice, she certainly doesn’t think so…

She also chats about the tumultuous changes seen in the music industry in the last few years, the rise of ‘people power’ through technology, and how we consume the music we love – from queuing every Saturday on the high street for a CD single, to direct downloading, and now to Vodafone’s new unlocked music (DRM Free) service across mobile phone and PC networks, allowing us to download over a million tracks from some of the world’s largest record companies by the end of this summer.
