Rebecca DeMornay, the 48-year-old actress of “Risky Business” movie fame and other long-forgotten flicks was nabbed and charged with two counts of misdemeanor driving while under the influence in late October and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on December 31st, New Year’s Eve. How appropriate.

Mischa Barton was arrested on December 27 for driving while under the influence and other assorted goodies - such as having smoked marijuana and having weed in her car, which the cops seized - plus a bottle of unlabeled prescription drugs which got her charged with possession of narcotics and driving with a suspended license.

What is up with these celebs drinking and driving (and who knows what else) without being smart enough to arrange a designated driver? They are certainly well-heeled financially to afford one. You’d think they’d have the smarts with all that money they have in the bank to get them from Point A to Point B without the cops being involved.

After Lindsay Lohan’s drunken escapades and Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Britney Spears’ brushes with the law as a result of alcohol or drug related charges, it’s practically becoming fashionable in Hollywood for celebrities to be arrested and get their 15 minutes behind bars.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they had to actually pay for their own infractions of the law like the rest of us do?
