Duane “Dog” Chapman’s show “Dog The Bounty Hunter” was pulled off the air by A&E after he uttered the “N” word a time or two in a phone conversation recorded by his son who sold the tapes to a tabloid putting a little of the green stuff in his son’s pocket.
If you think about it, who cares what was said? Dog is a good bounty hunter bringing criminals to justice around the clock, assisted by his wife and his children. If he wants to speak freely and call someone “a nigger” in what should have been a private conversation, I see no reason why he can’t speak freely under the First Amendment and be supported by the media for it.
Instead, he’s now being dragged through the muck and called a “racist”, destroying the good works his show on A&E has been recognized for since its inception.
If you think about it, freedom of speech means freedom of speech. How often throughout history have women been referred to by the “S” word or the “W” word or even the “C” word?
Have TV show money-makers been shut down over such lapses in political correctness where women are concerned? Not once.
Apparently, it’s okay to refer to women derogatorily on TV. It’s considered to be artistic license. But when a man like Dog exercises his First Amendment rights in a telephone recording, he goes down for it?
Something is obviously very wrong with the way we view rights to freedom of speech.

The last two or three days I have been reading comments out there. About 95% of the mad ranters out there are also apparently racists also.In the heat of the moment, just like he was in the heat of the moment racial slurs are flying right and left. So far he has been called bigot,whiteass-cracker,KKK,f***g redneck scum and far worse and even Beth being dragged into it. So it seems to me that the kettle is calling the pot black and when the showdown comes people tend to show what their true colors really are so I rest my case.

This was a PRIVATE conversation between his Son and him, the Enquirer had no right to exploit this and ruin Doug Chapman’s life. Doug should sue the Enquirer., giving his Son money on top of it. Where are Doug’s rights?????SHAME on his Son for doing what he did and for the Enquirer to do what they did.Put the Dog the Bounty Hunter back on A&E or I will boycott them til they do.
How would all of you like it if your Family would TAPE your conversations that are private and sell them to the Enquirer. How come the Enquirer isn’t being sued by the Chapman’s for ruining his life and TV program? As for Beth, you better stand up for your man, he’s a good man thru and thru!!!!!!
God bless Dog the Bounty Hunter~!!!!!!!

Dog is a god in our house, I have 3 sons and each night we would sit down and watch Bounty Hunter. He has helped me pass on so many good lessons to my sons. I think the biggest one that has really turned their lives around was a few days before all this BS started over him exercising his 1st admendment right of Freedom of Speech. His words of wisdom to his sons Leland and Duane that were on another island to apprehend a criminal was that “brothers are each others keepers” in other words look after your brother and watch his back. Since that show I can see a closeness in my sons that was not there before.
Keep Dog on the air and let him help us teach our children what is right and wrong. Dog RULES

People - freedom of speech does not mean that there are no repercussions for what you say, it simply means that there can be no repercussions imposed by our government. What’s the difference? It means that our government cannot imprison you, fine you, etc. , however, there may be social and/or professional repercussions imposed on you by non-government entities.

This whole thing has a lot of people upset. I agree that he used some words that a lot of black people find offensive. Does this make him a racist? Not at all. Does this mean that a lot of black people think he is? Yes. Should he loose his show? Hell no. I think it is complete BS that any man (white, black, etc). will now have to watch what they say in their own home because of s*** like this. I am sorry that people have become so think skinned that they let a little 6 letter word tear them up so much. I have heard so many slurs from black people (cracker, honkey, etc.) that I could not count them all if I had to. I do not feel that he should be punished or for that matter even have to aplogize for a private conversation. If you are ready to aplogize to everyone you have ever said bad things about in private conversations and then wait for them to decide your punishment, then you are qualified to be upset by this. Until that day, you should just sit down and be quit about it. He has done more good than most of you ever will and I find it sad that people are giving him this much shi* over a little word. Grow up people. Look in the mirror before you judge others.

I am writing from Alberta Canada and my Tuesday evening was a night to sit and watch Dog and his family on A&E. I liked the way Dog interacted with his family, with the clients he had to take down. All of the clients taken in by Dog and his family had a positive message to hang onto and maybe that message of love given by Dog and his family will be the only love that person will receive. What a ministry you have to people that only someone coming from your backround can touch. I think Tucker betrayed his dad and ultimately his families livlihood. We all say things we are sorry for in a heated moment unfortunately Tucker, money means more to you that settling a private matter outside the media out of respect for your father and the life he is striving to acheive each day. I am white and lived in Oklaholma for 4 years and had blacks say racial slurs to me and say white trash why don;t you go back to Canada where you belong. Fortunatly I did not take that personal nor did I sue them. I think this whole thing has been blown out of porportion and Tucker needs to publically appologise to his father for betrayal and Dog appologise to the girl involved and both need to let it go. God Bless your family and I hope A&E can also let it go and lets resume the show:) I will be praying for you all and what is to happen will be out of everyones control except the guy upstairs will be the ultimate authority. Love you Dog,and Beth. Elaine

Dog The Bounty Hunter, Racist? i would have never believed it in a million years as he is such a good role model for children and he is a man who turned his life the right way from being a convict to a bounty-hunter. I have heard the conversation which he has had with his son and he clearly states that he has nothing against the woman he is dating because she is black but i think that maybe the ‘N’ word which he used has become some sort of habit. I personally think that maybe Dog The Bounty Hunter isnt racist but maybe he is not used to having black people around or something because he feels some sort of insecurity.
I was shocked to hear this news and at first didn’t believe this, i will admit that my views have changed on dog a little bit and i have lost a little bit of respect for him. I think at the same time this is over greed by both dog and his son as his son framed him and sold the audio tape to Enquirer and the reason dog didnt want his son with a black woman he didn’t want to risk losing his 30 year career.
I myself am indian and know how it feels when racist remarks are made, i mean if dog was to use the ‘P’ word then i would be just as upset as black people are at the moment, i hope that in due time he will gain everyone’s forgiveness and his television show back as i enjoy viewing it regularly.

yes i think that dogs show should not be pulled off the air because of him uttering the ‘n’ word i mean fine it is not good to say but how many tv show do use words like that it was a private phone call they had no right to listen in on it

Dog The Bounty Hunter and BBC World - well, what else is worth watching on TV? That’s my viewing cut in half. What in heaven’s name is the man supposed to have done? Showed racist attitudes in a private conversation? I should imagine that racist attitudes, expressed or unexpressed, are common to an awful lot of Americans of all colours. We’re so fascinated with Dog because he’s a redneck who has got to have retained a lot of his redneck attitudes but, nevertheless, a redneck who, despite his criminal background, managed to get it right and, on the whole, continues to get it right. I’m sure a lot of the TV series is stage-managed but I have no doubt that Dog is absolutely sincere in the values he upholds - love of family, good work ethic, anti-drug and compassion for the criminals he apprehends. How many people must have been influenced for the good by this series? It really doesn’t matter what mistakes there may have been, or continue to be, in Dog’s life. The show projected good and admirable social values in a raunchy, attractive way : what woman would not want to cuddle cute Leland, what woman could ever aspire to Beth’s awesome bosom?
I wonder what A&E are doing about it? The viewers they must have lost! It’s not as if the ratings for the show were down - Dog was at the height of his popularity. Surely they are looking for some way to get him back? It must have been financial disaster for them to take that show off. I don’t care whether it’s A&E’s desire to make a buck or if it’s just that reason finally prevails - the man has apologised, get him back on TV.

Anyone and Everyone who cares about “Dog” and “Family”, PLEASE HELP ME FIND A WAY TO BRING THEM ALL BACK ON TV!! We need them! They are the ones that “proved” that everyone can make mistakes, but still be able to “change”. Incase anybody is curious, the only person that is “PERFECT” is “GOD”. He has been an inspiration to me and I want them “BACK!” They are willing to help people change their lives and they have made good on their promises. There have been many ways for their captures to do wrong, but they have changed the hearts of most. Just take a second to think of where those people would have been if “Dog” and “Family” hadn’t been there to offer their help, love, kindness,or to offer support! He has been “faithful” to his fans, now his fans need to step up to the plate and show that “WE” are “faithful” to him. As far as that so-called racist remark(N–word) we have all heard it on a daily basis! So why should he be the only one to be called:”RACIST?” Everyone help bring Dog back!!!!!!
