Sean Penn, 46, actor and director recently met Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela to discuss the war in Iraq. Penn, who was briefly married to Madonna and charged with domestic violence during their marriage, applauded and nodded as Chavez slated the American government and demanded an American withdrawal from Iraq. Venezuelans in exile from the Chavez government were angered by Penn’s visit saying that he was being used.
Whilst I can understand Sean Penn’s motives, I’m not sure that linking himself to a totalitarian government which has been accused of human rights abuses will do his cause any good.

If Sean wants to ally with Chavez and bash our elected government on foriegn soil, I say why doesn’t he pack up and move there. Perhaps after seeing how the masses are treated in Venezuela and how dissidents are put down he may have a greater appreciation for the freedoms we are blessed with in the United States of America.
