New York Socialities are a class below Paris Hilton (just not on socialiterank.com).  Don’t believe me? Ben Widdcombe has a piece in today’s NY Daily News about a charity (with a very small c) event that some of the NY shIT Girls including Tinsley Mortimer, Amanda Hearst and wannabes Fabiola Beracasa, Stella Keitel, Stella Schnabel and Catherine Malandrino.  The big hearted socialities are going to be competing in “A Princess Race”

That involves two days of competitive “surfing, canoeing, golfing and Jet-Skiing” in the Turks and Caicos. The glib event aims to “raise awareness” for Innocence in Danger, a UNESCO initiative to battle child sex trafficking.

So far, so good but besides raising awareness, are any of these heiresses going to actually to raise, actual money or this good cause?

Organizer Vanessa Duquesnes said the ladies are each expected to donate between $1,000 and $2,000 to the cause after the event, although no one checks. And they’ll be getting their money’s worth! A “Reward Ceremony” will be held April 28 to distribute prizes, including a $3,000 Cartier watch to the lucky winner. Duquesnes also claimed Cartier would make a donation to Innocence in Danger, but a Cartier spokeswoman denied this, saying they were merely underwriting the weekend. Oh, and Duquesnes says each girl gets a free Cartier bracelet - you know, on behalf of the abused kids.

So just to clarify, they don’t actually have to donate anything (and if they do it’s maximum $2,000) and they’ll all get mimimum a free Cartier bracelet for going on an adventure holiday that will somehow raise awareness about child sex trafficking.

And just in case any of those altruistic socialities miss out because their party planner clashes don’t worry:

“We’ll be doing it again in the Hamptons this summer for those who couldn’t make it to the Turks and Caicos,” a spokesman said cheerfully.
