The preliminary results of Anna Nicole Smith’s autopsy were revealed yesterday.  In a press conference with Broward County Medical Examiner Dr Joshua Perper, who performed the six-hour autopsy on Anna and Charlie Tiger, Chief of Seminole Police Department confirmed:

• “The autopsy was able to exclude any kind of physical injuries such as blunt force trauma, gunshot would, stab wounds or asphyxia as a cause of death, the contributory cause of death or a hastening cause of death.”
• Anna had a minor bruise on her back but that was attributed to a fall in her hotel room bathroom a few days previously.
• She had a small amount of blood in her stomach but that was attributed to the fact she went into terminal shock before she died.
• While no pills were found in Anna’s stomach, “By the naked eye there were no drugs or tablets or pills in her stomach “but our findings are limited with what we can see with our naked eye”, Dr. Perper hasn’t ruled out drugs as a possible cause of death.
• Dr. Perpar stated there were 3 major possibilities of cause of death: 

“One is that the death is due solely to naturally causes. The other possibility is that the death might be due to some medication or chemicals. And the third possibility is that there is a combination of natural causes and medication.”

• The police revealed that no illegal drugs were found in her room and despite reports to the contrary they also reveal they did not see Howard K Stern flush any drugs down the toilet.

More detailed procedures will be carried out and the ME office will also speak with witnesses to her collapse.

TMZ also reports that 5 other people were staying at Anna’s hotel suite including Howard K Stern, her bodyguard, the body’s guard’s wife who was also Anna’s private nurse and two other unidentified people.

CNN reports that Anna had tried to kill herself previously in the Bahamas by drowning herself in her pool but was found and resuscitated.  More sinister are the reports that say Anna’s nurse called Howard before she dialled 911 that day and he took a long time to return the call.
