Janice Dickinson Wishes Her Models Were Anorexic And Won’t Be Eating For The Rest Of The Day

February 6th, 2007 · 31 Comments. Joy Quillinan reports. Janice Dickinson gave this response when asked what she thought about the recent controversy surrounding super skinny models:

“I’m dying to find kids who are too thin. I’ve got 42 models in my agency and I’m trying to get them to lose weight. In fact, I wish they’d come down with some anorexia. I’m not kidding. I’m running into a bunch of fat-assed, lazy little bitches who don’t know how to do the stairs or get their butts into the gym.”
Janice also says that the new recommendations proposed by the Council of Fashion designers that include development worships on the causes and effects of eating disorders, providing healthy backstage meals and snacks, having 16 being the minimum age for runway models and requiring those models identified as having an eating disorder to receive profession help as “bull”.
Dickinson doesn’t mince her words on the new series of her reality show, The Janice Dickinson Show telling one wannabe model:

“She had a big, wide, low-slung ass. She’s gotta do some stairs. She’s gotta do lunges. She’s gotta have sex on top. Anything to get her ass of the back of her knee-caps.”
The self proclaimed ‘worlds 1st supermodel’ has obviously been affected by the industry’s version of thin:

“I’ve been saying this ever since Brooke Shields squeezed her 15-year-old little ass into a pair of Calvin Klein jeans (in 1980): Models are supposed to be thin. They’re not supposed to eat. In fact, I’m not going to eat for the rest of the day because we had this conversation”

Coming in the wake of the death of 21 year old Brazilian model Ana Carolina Resta due to anorexia, Janice could use her experience of what model life was like into turning it into a more positive experience for young models now in her position as model agency owner instead of using cheap publicity tactics like this.

  • lauren // Apr 2, 2007 at 11:41 pm

what the fuck is wrong with you?!!!?!?!?!?
how dare she say that models should stave themselves and not eat. Does she know how many role models she has?, young adult and teenage girls wanting to be just like her? Saying stuff like that is just going to promote more eating disorders fo teens trying to be skinny cause now they think the only way to be skinny is to not eat.

  • model thin // Apr 15, 2007 at 9:53 pm

i have an eating disorder.. not caused by people like janice.. but due to my own issues. what she says doesn’t have that big of an influence over the world. but models are supposed to be skinny.. and if they starve to get there so be it. people with eating disorders have more self control and tolerence than the rest of this world.. if anyone could manage to be skinny.. everyone would be a model. and thats not how it works. models are what everyone wants to be but can’t achieve. anyone can be fat and lazy.. and everyone can be average.

janice is hilarious. she says stuff to get a rise out of people. get over yourselves.. you just wish you could be thin too.

Janice is tottaly rite , models are supppose to be thin and tall’s what makes a model special..i was unusally thin when i modeled from 18 to 21 .. people who don’t have nice clothes dont understand that high fashion is meant for someone thin not some large and in charge faty.. lauren chick are just big fat ass? what about diabeites and heart disease that comes from being over weight..

  • Sam // Apr 19, 2007 at 10:28 pm

I think she’s right, except i don’t think you should starve yourself completely.
    skinny is beautiful.
and theres nothing wrong with being skinny!

you eat to live, you don’t live to eat!!!

  • taleigh // Apr 24, 2007 at 6:00 am

I agree that if models are supposed to be thin then it is their choice whether to eat well and work out or starve to get there. Its like any job. You do whet you gotta do. And if you cant then dont do it….get another job.
But I desagree with Janice comments about wishing her models had anorexia and that comment about noone dies from anorexia. Thats a load of s**t. Ive had anorexia for 12 years but am not influenced by hollywood or models. I developed it due to anxiety, depression and sexual issues. I would never be influenced by anything Janice says. She is ugly and I dont understand how she could have ever been a model. So why would her comment affct me?

  • Stephanie // Apr 28, 2007 at 6:11 am

“Models” became thin in the 60’s. Before that, round, plump asses were topped off by big, bubbly boobs, and women were able to eat. Whole fat cottage cheese was a “diet” food. The term “rubenesque” (aka “fat”) is in reference to MODELS for the painter Rubens who was capturing the ideal of woman in his day. Desired body sizes and shapes vary from decade to decade, century to century. What’s vital is that women learn to love themselves regardless of whether they have double D’s and a bubble butt, or they’re built like Kate Moss. As for Janice, anyone who’s had that much plastic surgery and who feels the need to belittle those who look up to her as a role model is not a balanced, healthy person. I’m going to bet that she cries herself to sleep on a regular basis because she’s never happy with who or what she is.

  • Hannah // Apr 28, 2007 at 10:01 pm

Models are ideal to be skinny, and it’s one persons fault if they overeat + dont exercise alot, but wanting an individual to come down with anorexia aw dreadful. Skinny is ideal, but it’s not the only thing. Just let them be and help them, not encourage them to go into a darker, slimmer whelm.

  • HELLO? // Apr 29, 2007 at 4:21 am

YOU GUYZ ARE PROBALLY ALL FAT AND JUST WISH YOU WERE THIN. see i am a model. im a size 0 only cuz my agent was like Janice! i hate that bitch!!! FU all

  • Aimee // Apr 29, 2007 at 9:55 am

XD I love this woman. I think the whole revolt against extremely thin models is stupid. Models are supposed to be beautiful, fat is not beautiful.
I, myself, am anorexic and have been for 5 years now so don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying that models should “get” anorexia (because that’s impossible and stupid and being like this sucks) and I’m not saying that they should be anorexic. I’m just saying that I think what models look like is what they’re supposed to look like. Thin, bony, elegant. Not fat, clumsy, and “a healthy, normal weight.” Let them do as they please, so long as they’re still beautiful.
I’ve never heard of her before, but what she said made me laugh. Blunt, maybe badly-worded, but I like the straight-forwardness.
Yes, deaths due to anorexia are sad. I realize that I may be a statistic one day; but it’s not like the modeling agencies are shooting them in the heads. It’s their problem, let them deal with it. Don’t punish them for being perfect.

  • Jordyn // Apr 30, 2007 at 10:15 pm

I disagree with janice. i recently got started in a model career, and i hope it goes well. Im naturally thin and have a high metabolism, but i would NEVER EVER choose to be thin by makin myself puke or whatever. i eat all the time and if i gain a couple pounds in a few weeks.. whocares? i don’t eat like a pig but i just live life. being anorexic or bulemic will be the most stupid thing you could EVER do to yourself. .. so don’t do it. Accept yourself for who you are… but just stay healthy. people who tell you to be something like anorexic is somebody you should NEVER trust.

  • H.I.P // May 1, 2007 at 9:43 pm

janice is a stupid person models are not good looking when they are all boony in the catwalk she needs to get herself a new idea on what a model should look like

  • Gillion // May 8, 2007 at 8:41 pm

I think this is silly, there is no right or wrong.
The only reason that so many people think fat is ugly at the moment is because we are brainwashed to think “fat is ugly, fat is ugly. fat is ugly…” Lets face it, the industry is all about money and at the moment, we’re all (consumers) brainwashed to think that skinny is sexy, fat is gross one pays to see ‘fat’ models at the moment. It’s all about the Bottom line; money money money and manipulation leads to more money.
Don’t be a tool. What’s important is that we are comfortable with our bodies and that we are at a weight that is healthy for us as individuals.
Remember, everyone is different biologically. If you are naturally skinny, then rock it, if you are naturally a bit plumper then rock it. Don’t starve yourself, don’t overeat, get exercise and after that… you are what you are!!
Our bodies are very temporary, they fade and change, we might as well do this with a good sense of soul. Yesterdays models are todays chubby old ladies. At the end, you’re either at peace with your identity or you aren’t. find peace.
What Janet says is calloused, narrow minded and ignorant. But remember, she’s a total media tool so she says what we all expect her to say; somthing calloused, narrow minded and ignorant. She’s got an image (a complete stereotype) to portray. It’s all about the bottom line, media frenzies, and she’s got that ‘I’m such an honest crazy bitch ” thing to uphold.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to her. She’s a confused person and she enjoys making other people feel uncomfortable. true to yourself
    2.have respect for others
    3.think outside the box.

  • Caitlin // May 14, 2007 at 12:39 am

You have a serious problem. You should never say that you wish they should become anorexic. I totally disagree with almost everything you have every said in your whole life. All you care about is what people look like and how skinny they are. You should care about how pretty people are on the inside. I think people who are pretty on the inside and kind to poeple (unlike you)should be on covers of magazines. Not skinny anorexic models….and i’m not saying all models are anorxic. Some models are pretty on the inside and out and are even heathy with thier eating. I think you need some serious help!!

  • S.E // May 15, 2007 at 9:22 pm

Janice is always over the top, but she has a point supermodels are inteneded to be slim, the designers make the clothes at small sizes, but screw encouraging anorexia and buliemics they’re not meant to be skeletons there is a difference between slim and sleek and boney and deformed. I dont get why models starve themselves. I hate diets, i’ve got a toned athletic body all because i excercise a hell of a lot, but eat what i want to which is why im not cranky all day every day. And no i’m not dissing bigger curvacious women because many of them are pretty than catwalk models but truth is skinny is meant to stay on the catwalk!

  • Honey313 // May 25, 2007 at 6:24 am

Models are meant to be skinny, if modeling is what they want to do and they are willing to starve themself to get hired then get over it. there is nothing wrong with being skinny. does anyone really want to see a tub of lard walking down the runway??? good to see someone stand up for the modeling industry. i completely support you Janice! XX

  • nadie // May 25, 2007 at 7:59 am

janice is definately crazy. look at her own effin self, she had too many botox. she’s not even ’skinny’. being a model does not mean that you have to be anorexic/skinny/whatever. janice should starve herself to death.

  • Heather // Jun 1, 2007 at 12:25 am

Ok, wow. I’ve noticed nearly all of you idiotic women that have posted these things are anorexic or have some other eating disorder. That’s fucking pathetic. My chest: 39′, my waist:32′, and my hips: 36′. I am 5′5. And I am fucking proud that I can call myself a woman unlike most of you bitches that don’t even have boobs most likely because you have an eating disorder such as anorexia or bolemia. Ok…why? I must ask? Why are you so weak as a an addict to a drug that you think you are so powerful to starve yourself? For what? Someone else? YOurself? bullshit!. That’s just all bullshit! And that girl aimee…are you fucking retarted? skinny does not equal elegant hunny. Marilyn Monroe is called elegant. Look at how gorgeous she is. YOu think your anorexic ass is attractive? How so? bony figures are sexy to an extent. like someone who is healthy and has muscle and bones showing like her collarbone, a little bit of hip bone and a very lil showing of ribs where the muscle usually is right below the boobs…like jessica alba or jessica biel. That’s sexy. but bony bony? hell fucking no! Where you have your bones showing underneath your collarbone and in between your thin ass breasts? hell no. That’s so sick. If you want to look like a teenage little boy…be my guest…cause a woman has curves…and i’m not saying you have to look like some fatass….cause obesity is not attractive…but how you look should not even matter if you are a beautiful person and do beautiful things. I just don’t get it. You idiots! I mean seriously? You talk of how you have these eating disorders as if it’s not big deal. eh it happens. It’s normal. As if it’s ok and it looks nice. I’d say you have a little more than an eating disorder. You need to see a fucking shrink. women were meant to have tits…not airbags. And food is there and was meant to be eaten by us so that we can survive. And ummm have you looked at a porno or any magazine that has women on it that men look at? they have tits! they have asses! and they have curves! That’s what most men look for. not some stick they try to bang and ends up feeling like they are fucking a pillow. I love my tits….and every single guy and girl that walks by me seems to also because they always have to comment on how amazing my boobs look.and no i don’t wear provocative clothing either. I wear fashionable and semi-tight clothes. And I think I look great. You should never starve yourself to get skinny. if you want to get skinny….GET OFF YOUR LAZZZYYYY ASSEES AND GO TO THE FUCKING GYM! EVEN PARIS HILTON WORKS OUT! SHIT! YEA SHE HAS MONEY AND THE TIME TO WORK OUT….BUT MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF AND GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASSES INSTEAD OF STICKING THE END THE OF TOOTHBRUSH DOWN YOUR THROAT AND LEARN HOW TO BE A WOMAN AND A HUMAN BEING BY EATING AND WORKING OUT! YOU THINK YOU GOT IT EASY…YEA STICK YOUR TONGUE DOWN YOUR THROAT AND IT’S ALL OVER…ALL THE WEIGHT WILL BE GONE….YEA…IT WILL…SO WILL YOUR TITS AND ASS THAT GUYS LIKE SO MUCH….AND SO WILL YOUR INSIDES…AND WHEN YOUR SITTING THERE ABOUT 50 YEARS OLD….IF YOU EVEN LIVE TO BE THAT OLD…AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE MILLIONS OF MEDS AND ME TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE YOU LOOK AND FEEL ABOUT 70 BECAUSE YOUR BODY HAS USED ALL OF IT’S OWN NUTRIENTS TO STAY ALIVE….THEN YOU’LL BE SORRY BUT IT’LL BE TOO LATE. SO HAVE FUN STARVING YOURSELVES…I’M GOING TO GO EAT A HEALTHY SALAD AND THEN GO RUNNING LATER ON. THAT’S HOW YOU DO IT BITCHES! SO GO FUCK YOURSELVES AND JANICE SINCE YOU THINK SHE’S SO FUCKING RIGHT ABOUT NASTY THIN MODELS. MODELS ARE UGLY SKINNY…THEY ARE SOOOO GORGEOUS WITH HIPS AND TITS THAT ACTUALLY FIT INTO THEIR CLOTHING.

I think its more disgusting to see some stick walk down the catwalk about ready to die of a heart attack or other complications due to anorexia than to see someone who is considered “over the model weight.” Since when did painful death become beautiful? What kind of fucked up psychopathic mentality is that?

  • Patricia DRUKENNN // Jun 11, 2007 at 3:27 pm

I tihnk you are gross.! who the heck says that about other people … so you want them to die! as far as im concerend you are the bitch not them JANICE FUCKING DICKINSON! I HATE YOUR SKINNY ASS GUTS.

  • ewww? sick // Jun 11, 2007 at 3:33 pm

Janice your sick.. if you wanna make girls sick and anoerxic and have them die and not eat.. your a sick bitch… like really? who the fuck would want that in our world and want ppl to die of that disorder… GO FUCKING EAT A PIECE OF PIZZA YOU SKINNY ASS bitches.. like fuck im done…

Have fun watching your models die. like my god

  • NaTasha // Jun 11, 2007 at 6:08 pm

I think that any one who agrees with this statment has never been dircetly effected with anorexia and It is a shame to think people like that exsist people who WANT and believe beauty is meant to be thin and lives of women should be tackled down to size 0 if not smaller..why would anybody want to promote death?..I think plus size models should become more the futur and help change the way society is viewing image.

  • Princess! :) // Jun 12, 2007 at 8:09 pm

I LOVE JANICE!! she’s real n all y’all r just hatin mann! She brutally honest & thats what people can’t handle. This is the way the modelling industry is run and if you dont like it SUCK OUTTT! athletes are generally muscular, sumo wrestlers r generally fat, jockeys and gymnasts are generally short and models are generally skinny!! GET OVER IT Janice is being realistic, no-one will want that she mentioned if she doesn’t “get her ass off the back of her knee-caps.” They do need to get to the gym, you have to work to get into every profession, athletes and wrestlers train as they need to have a certain body type. SAME AS MODELS they have to loose weight to have that certain body type – and in this case its skinny! However i don’t agree abusing your body to get their is the right way to go about it. ……………. OHHH AND CAN I JUST SAYYY i’m 16 years young, my measurments r 32,29,34, & i’m about 5′6. I’m a healthy size 2 and my b.m.i is normal, I’m naturally like this and i maintain a healthy life style. I exercise 3 times a week, dont eat much junk food [the occasional weekly choco] and I HATE IT when PEOPLE CALL ME ANOREXIC!! Y can’t i walk down the street without people thinking i’ve just thrown up my dinner or thinking i need to put on weight and WHAT’S WRONG WITH BEING SKINNY? U r all too quick to judge a person who you think is too skinny, those who choose not to eat and confront them about it … WELL Y THE HELL DONT U DO THE SAME WITH FAT PEOPLE?? U wouldn’t go up to someone who is size 12 or 14 and say to them ur eating too much u need to loose weight because it’s rude so what gives you the right to go up to someone who is size 2 or 4 and tell them they need to put on weight because thats also rude. People desire to be all shapes and sizes so leave them and let them get on with it … all you can do is advise them on the best ways to get where they want me be. Think about it, you wouldn’t tell people who are eating too much 2 stop eating and loose weight so why is this any different?

  • Make a change! // Jun 16, 2007 at 12:49 pm

I think Janice is a sick cow. People like her is where the pressure to be extraordiarily thin begins. She persuades the top models to be thin, then the celebrities copy this trend to too have a ‘perfect figure’. Then the celebs are seen in all aspects of the media and the viewers too feel the pressure to be underweight. Its disgusting that various groups of anorexic people all over the world are all inspired by Janice. I think thin people are beautiful and thats the way that models should be. But what i consider thin and models and their agencies consider to be thin are totally different. Thin should be small but still with curves. A women is not sexy without her curves! People with eating disorders and bones showing is too thin! Its terrible that people want this image, especially with all the deaths of models due to anorexia. Do people have no sypathy for the Ramos sisters and Ana Carolina Reston!? Something really needs to be done in the fashion world, and fast! A united decision needs to be made among fashion communities globally to make a difference with underweight models, before any more drop dead!

  • cris // Sep 11, 2007 at 9:51 pm

ya, that really is a little bit sick! i’m no model and i’m surely not skinny and perhaps sometimes i should like to be, but enough is enough. there is more to life than appearance and, as plato said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. my message to those who tend to agree or be influenced by this woman (janice or what’s her face) is that they should decide themselveswhat they want to eat, feel and look like and act accordingly. do not suffer on anybody’s account, never… you’ve only got one life, one chance, don’t screw with it!

  • cris // Sep 11, 2007 at 9:56 pm

ya, anorexic girls are beutiful, gorgeous!!!
sure, only if you fancy horror shows!

  • MARGARET ANDREWS // Jul 4, 2008 at 6:40 am

  • Laura // Aug 12, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Yes models should be thin and beautiful for most types of clothes, but I would not wish anorexia on anyone. I’m writing this from an anorexic inpatient hospital. Anorexia isn’t fun.
