Mandy Moore is one of those stars who seem to have it all. She is a talented singer-songwriter, an accomplished actress and definitely has the look. Now she recently faced her first public battle. She struggled through an episode of depression. According to Moore, her change in mood is completely uncharacteristic for her.
         “A few months ago I felt really low, really sad. Depressed for no reason.” Twenty-two-year old Moore said in an interview in the February issue of Jane Magazine that hit the newsstands this past Tuesday.
         “I’m a very positive person who always look at the glass half-full.” She added. “So it was like someone flipped a switch in me. I wanted to figure out why.”
           Several media sources has reported that the breakup between her and her ex-boyfriend, Zach Braff, 31, was one of the causes for her depression. Recently, Braff confessed to Parade Magazine that he believes that he suffers from a mild case of depression.
       “The breakup added to what I was going through but it was not the complete reason.” Moore insisted. “It definitely doesn’t help if you’re already in that place . . . but everything happens for a reason.”
         Moore now spends her time in Woodstock, New York working on a new album that is helping her through this season of her life. She is also writing some songs for the project.
      “Writing has been really therapeutic.” She says. “These little nuggets that have come up over the past eight months have made me look at things in a different way.”
         Moore is not looking for music compares to her squeaky-clean teen days. She is working on the type of music that will inspire young women who find themselves in a similar situation.
