Jack Palance has died, aged 87, at his home in Montecito, California. He died of natural causes on Friday 10 November 2006.
Jack (born Vladimir Palaniuk) was probably best known to younger movie goers as Curly Washburn and his twin brother Duke in the City Slickers movies of the 90’s. This was the role which was to give Jack his first and only Oscar. He received the Best Supporting Actor award in 1992, which the 6’4” star celebrated by doing a one armed push up on stage much to the amusement of his diminutive co-star and Oscar host, Billy Crystal. Jack famously declared at that ceremony “Billy Crystal - I could crap bigger than him”
Jack is survived by his wife Elaine and his two daughters, Holly and Brooke. His son Cody, died in 1998, aged 42 from a malignant melanoma.
